Derek,
Great review. I've been looking at these planes and the ECE's lately. Lack of a fine adjustment was one of my concerns against the HNT. But, the ability to flip the blade and turn these smoothers into very workable scrapers is really appealing to me. I've never gotten satisfactory results from my Stanley 112 even with a Hock blade. Looks like you've gotten excellent results with the HNT. Thanks for sharing.

I met Terry at a woodworking show and he tried to teach me the thumb grip...I think I am like an old dog at this point:rolleyes: Great review...I did manage to make some nice shavings with his planes....When you are really into a piece and working it a wooden plane is something to experience....there is a conection to the work that metal planes never quite achieve....hard to explain
