I receive my 6 in jointer on Friday and I have a question about the best lifting point for putting the base on to the stand. Should I lift as close to the base of the tables as possible or can it be lifted without and damage to the table by lifting out at the ends of the table.

Not sure about the 6", but the 8" has notches on either side of the center, I used appliance straps one going though each of the notches and lifted by them, hopefully this picture will post.

Seems it did, then I turned the jointer right side up and used a jack to lift high enough.
Two people could do it fairly easy and a 6" one would be even lighter yet.

Hope this helps.

I have the 6" Yorkie and love it. When I assembled it I lifted it up as close as I could to the center ( with the help of a friend). I had no problems with screwing up the tables. After assembly your going to have to ensure that the tables are co-planer and at the proper height.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will be checking the tables shortly.

Ray,

Worked in a tool supply store for a few years, and we always had two guys lift, usually right at the ends. I always got paranoid at first, but we lifted many and never had a problem with one.

Might want a strong friend though. Even a 6" is usually over 100 pounds.

Richard.

Had a friend come over and help me get the base on to the stand. I just got finished checking, verifying and adjusting and needed. This jointer did not need any adjusting at all. Ran a 3 foot 2x4 thru it and it was smooth as glass. I am impressed by this jointer. Again thanks for the help. I will post some pictures of my shop as soon as I can find my camera. I think the wife has it.
