Easy way to remove bark from burl?

I was cutting up some corners I bandsawed from a bowl blank and decide one part was a good size for a pen photo prop. I figured I pop the bark off and be done with it but after an hour or two of picking and grout brushing its gettting close.
Is there a better way to go about getting the bark off? I have another burl bowl blank that I want to do NE with all the pointies on it but WOW thats a lot of work.
If I wanted to spend days on my stuff I'd do flat work...LOL

I would guess you would do that previous to any turning. It may be a little hard on a bowl.
I guess this is why NE bowls sell for more, takes too long to pick out all the junk.

Not a turner but I have used a tool I think will speed things up. It is a chainsaw blade wrapped around a steel disc (4") that fits in an angle grinder and they are sold to be used for carving-like carving a bear figure froma tree trunk. They are available from woodcraft here(http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?familyid=929) (TOS violation???) and they really remove wood fast (or slow if you want). Wear gloves and face shield. Depending on wood species, when it was harvested and how it was dried...it can be hard to remove the bark or it can fall off by itself.

On the stubborn pieces, you can soak it in water for a while and you may pry the bark easier after. Of course you know that the wood may crack after if you don't dry it properly due to re-introduction of moisture.

Try it on smaller, discardable piece first and see if it works for you.
