1/16" thick veneer is unusually thick. Most sellers will segregate it in a section called thick veneer.

http://www.certainlywood.com/woodmenulist.asp?woodmenu=16_Maple offers 1/16" maple for $2 per square foot. They also have other species in this thickness.

http://www.constantines.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=175 offers several species in 1/16"

Thanks Jamie, $2 per square foot is to high of a price. There is about 14 square foot in each skateboard. I can get a finshed board for about $30
so there has to be a supplier out there that sells it for less.

The other site did sell it for less but only 30" long. I need 36" long

Thanks

Here's the unfortunate reality... For most home woodworking projects, the cost of materials is generally about the same as the cost of the entire product bought at retail. Factories are much more cost-efficient at building stuff than the individual craftsman. They also have enormous leverage in buying their materials.

There are several reasons I do woodworking. I design stuff which is not built by factories. I love the creation process. Other folks like sharing the construction process with their kids. However, saving money over retail is not usually a good reason to do it yourself.

I think Rockler sells rough skateboard blanks. You cut out ant shape the board.

I am not doing this to save money! I just don't like to pay an unrelizable amount of money for raw material.

Jamie please note the price... one company sell it for .80 cents and the other $2.00 sqft.

the unfortunate reality is there are to many company ripping woodworker off.

Thanks for the help
