I splurged a little :) and I bought the Gifkin Dovetail jig. I got it with the A-10 template for general work in 7-13mm stock. The Gifkin was designed by Roger Gifkin primairly for box making but it can be used for blanket chests and drawers with other templates. There are all kinds of templates to use with it for different sized material or different sized dovetails and now it will do box joints as well. It is used on the router table with bearing guided bits that are designed for the jig and each template. I got a DVD produced so well by Roger that clearly demonstrates the jig from the easy initial set up thru all it's uses. You position your stock as in the photo with it centered evenly or how you want it over the fingers and set the stop. It is then set for both sides. You route the dovetails first and then flip the stock to the otherside up agains the stop and route that side. It is so easy. To set the jig up you route the pins and then the slots. If the fit is to loose you remove to shims or if it is to tight you add two shims and the jig is set forever with that template. Here are a couple photos. I am very excited and can't wait to use it!
Thanks for looking,
Corey

That's that aussie guy. I have seen his work he is pretty good.
Interesting and entirely logical jig too.
Saw your post in the Aussi forum.

Yeah he has done some beautiful work! It's kind of pricey to get it from Austrailia but the US agent doesn't sell the new jig with the aluminum top and stops.... so I ordred it direct from Roger. I can get the bits and everything else I want from the Japan Woodworker when I need them. I know I should have gotten the variable spacing shims!

Corey,

Very nice! I'm interested in how it works out, and how dust collection compares to a dovetail jig with a handheld router on top.

Good luck, it looks great.

It is sold by Roger Gifkin: http://www.gifkins.com.au/ in Austrailia. Shipping was about 58.00 I believe.... $271.00 delivered.
and in the U.S. by The Japan Woodworker but they don't sell the new jig with the aluminum fixture parts and stops.

Only 2 places I know of.

Thanks Peter, no DC set up for this jig on my set up. There is no fence used so in my Benchdop Protop I won't have a DC hooked up so I can't answer that one.
