Been working on my new (1940) unisaw. got a 3hp single phase motor to replace the 3hp/3ph motor that came with it. The new motor is slightly smaller in diameter than the origional but 1 1/2" longer. Turns out that it hits the cabinet in some positions. Thought about cuting the opening in the cabinet larger but Reply's from the old arn sight think that is sacreligious. I'm looking to get a good working saw, not in origional restoration. Any one have any thoughts?

Hey, Dave, I saw your question on OWWM, and no less than Professor Robert Vaughn himself showed you pics of how to do it. I'd say that is a blessing from on high.

It's rather like putting a new V-8 in a 57 Chev, it will run better and go faster. I'd get the sawsall out and get to work!

Enjoy, Tom
