View Full Version : Reclaiming 3.36 square feet - for those with small shops

I work in a small shop - a 19' 9" x 11' 6" 1 car garage, so space is at a premium. Actually space is almost more precious than wood. So anything I can do to cut down on the footprint of a piece of equipment is welcome. One of the biggest offenders in terms of floor space is my dust collector with the trash can cyclone. So this weekend I decided to do something about it

Now I have over 3 feet more floor space, the DC can be moved as a single unit and when I slide the planer back against the wall I don't bump the trash can into the DC switch and shut it off.

For those of you with shops measured in acres this may not be much, but those with a small shop will appreciate the gain.

Happy New Year.

Good idea Cliff. I'm going to see if I can't adapt your idea to my DC. Thanks for posting.

Cliff,

Got a picture to share? I'm in the same boat....small shop and a ton of stuff to cram in it.

I can do that...and it will matter in my little "cubicle". Good idea!

Outstanding use of a small space. I do think that we are all "space" challenged! Having a larger space only means filing it with more stuff, oh I mean machines!
Happy New Year Cliff

Excellent point...we all need to remember that space is also vertical in nature!
