Laurie,

Did you actually engrave that in the old scrimshaw fashion or is it lasered? Looks great whichever way you did it?

nancy, hello......i did this the way the whalers did over 200 years ago. i want to experience the art and will continue. i always want to be an artist but really can't draw or paint. this is an art form i can use with my turnings, yet another art form.

thanks, laurie

Well done Laurie! That's using your head........two arts in one!

Well done Laurie. I'm totally impressed with the fact that you are using traditional methodology. Sometimes, it's not so much the end product that's important....but the journey that got you there.:)

Very nicely done Laurie, adds a different flavor to an already beautiful pen.

That is very nice, Laurie. Can you tell us how long it took to do the engraving? Did you trace an outline first, of simply do it while looking at a picture?
Lastly, why did you scrimshaw the lower barrel instead of the upper barrel? The engraved pens I have seen universally had the engraving on the upper barrel. I do like yours, though.
