I think some of you remember the bench I built a few years ago

QWell Vicky thought it too nice to woodwork on and wanted to take it home and put it in the kitchen. Of coures it was a bit large, whew, for her kitchen. Well Since putting the new shop together I haven't reall had time to do much aside from wireing finding machines I wanted for the shop and working 7 days a week. So over the Christmas break I needed to tune the machines and took on the task of a new table for Vickies kitchen.

Very cool table! I like the pan under the surface, reminds me of the restaurant days.

Very nice. One of my friends has an small antique Shaker style bench with hand made wood screw vices in her living room as a side table. It is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship that was probably used by a tradesman for many years before it became a decoration. It seems some how undiginified to go that way.

Your kitchen table looks like a winner and meant for what it is used for.

Reg, that is beautiful now, and will only improve with the finish. Just one question: are you going to put some sort of cover over the nuts and bolt end and, if so, what are you going to use? Just curious. A table that pretty in the kitchen shouldn't be showing those nuts and bolt ends, IMHO.

You should show pictures of that to some kitchen remodelers in your area--bet you'd get some commissions to build more.

That is a beautiful workbench for sure. I have a similar idea for one, but it will have to wait for a while. Is the dark wood walnut?

The kitchen table is very nice. I'm sure that your wife will love it. Excellent design.

I like your idea of the tray for scraps and such. I might incorportate that idea into my new kitchen if and when it ever gets out of the planning stages and down into the woodshop. THANKS.

Thanks guys and girls. Heres the table with oiled top and bottom.
It is made from white oak and walnut. I will be turning some brass knobs for the covers of the nuts on the ends too.
