Use promotion code V7754 when you check out. At least that's what the e-mail they sent me says.

Join their email newsletter. It's free, they don't sell your info to others and they send you a special now and again. Free shipping now and then is one of the benefits of registering.

...just ordered 8 for $35.92 + tax. Total $38.43 thanks to Mike for supplying the Promo code for free shipping. I thought I was on the Rockler email list but I guess it was just from the local store as I got no notice of this bonanza. Now I'll be on the National list as well and let all Y'all know if any other great deals happen by.

Happy New Year to all!!!

How would these clamps be used differently than say a 12" K-body or Jensen grip clamp? I got my e.mail, but I hardly see them used in pics here...unless I'm missing something.

Thanks

John, check your spam folder - my email was there - first time too for Rockler.

Greg, I use my handscrews for special fixtures, and have modified some to hold cylindrical items by notching the jaws. Also, they can't be beat for non-parallel clamping. Handscrews can also exert a great amount of pressure over a large surface - more than any of my other clamps (can't say about K-bodies though, don't own any).

FWIW,
Wes

Great Mark! I was tempted to have my wife order 8 more!!

Question: Would it make sense to create a forum subject category for items found on great sales? That way, the group's participants could alert the rest of us of such finds and have the alerts grouped together in its own category. If not that, then maybe encourage folks to use a standardized subject line such as "Sale Alert" and list it in the General category. Hey, with SMC's membership, we could maybe even 'move the market!'

Thanks, Wes. I can see the use for modified ones in the way you do.

Does anyone else have other uses or links to pics? I don't want to miss this sale/free shipping if I can see their value in my clamp inventory.

If it was in a separate forum, I probably wouldn't keep as good of a track on the sales in that forum (not bad for my budget.) I'm happy with the notices being interspersed in the general woodworking forum. Although I do agree a standard title would help single them out.

BTW Jeff, thanks for tempting me to spend more money that I really shouldn't have. (4 are on the way.)

There's a very nice article on wooden clamps in the new Popular Woodworking. Basically, some of the advantages are that due to the way the jaws can pivot, they are good at clamping pieces with non-parallel faces, they can generate a LOT of clamping force at the tip, and can be used in pairs to make a makeshift bench vise. Also, you can make them yourself.

I bought 10 the other day in the store. Same sale price. They also had Jet clamp kit on sale. two 24" and two 40" with four framing jigs and bench dogs. for $89.00. Also had Portercable 7518 router for 269.00 plus you get a $25. cift card.

Many thanks for that free shipping promo code. I tried to buy some of these at the Houston store Saturday and was told they sold their entire stock ( I think he said 149pcs) in an hour and a half on Friday. That's when the flier hit the mailboxes here in the Houston area.

Does anyone know if these have an Acme thread on the screws, or are they the weaker triangular thread?

Thanks again!

Well, Jet must really want to push these clamps.

Rockler still has them listed for 70% off list price -- $4.49 each.
