Micheal, I really like those wild patterns. Just started some acrylics and have considered the different patterns, now will buy some next opportunity. Nice job. Can you tell me the names of the wood/patterns?

The segmented pens,

The one on the right is walnut and birch glued up in just a checkerboard pattern and the on on the left is walnut,birch and just a blank glued up out of an assortment I bought. Not sure what the dark wood is because the brother-in-law glued up the blank. He is the patient one,he does the glue ups and I do the turnings. Yes, these are my first pens and almost the first time on a lathe. Thanks for the comments.
