View Full Version : Burn marks glue up OK?

I'm cutting strips for some bent laminate. Unfortunately I don't have a good bandsaw blade nor drum sander. I didn't need a lot so I cut them w/ the table saw. Don't need planing but there are some burn marks on the blade. Will that effect glueup or do I need to sand/plane these marks off first. I would think not, but I'd hate to glue it up then have the laminates come apart on me...

The cuts are pretty smooth so that's not an issue.

Yes, burn marks will cause a weak spot. Water based wood glues depend oh having virgin wood to wood contact for proper adhesion. Burn marks should be sanded out.

If you use epoxy glue, the burn marks will have very little effect on the joint strength.
