It's been blowing VERY hard here for a couple of days and tonight Pawtucket, RI dodged a very big bullet. An old mill that was being torn down caught fire and the local fire departments feel blessed that "only" 13 other houses caught so far! For those of you that don't understand how scary this is for us...just a short time ago Warwick had a horrible nightclub fire which cost this little state 100 of it's people. When this came on the news today...knowing how hard the wind was blowing...the entire state held it's breath. Houses were catching on fire 6 blocks away! We ALL heard how the fire in Cal engulfed about the size of RI...and had horrible visions.
These people in Pawtucket are simply good old fashion hard working people who have watched as the mills have closed and left families behind. Sometimes life just doesn't fit into the "work hard and you'll be rewarded" mantra that was pounded into our heads as kids.
