Made a few boxes for parents and grandparents for Xmas. The three boxes are different. All are made from walnut and finished with about six coats of shellac. There were a few first experiences with these:

- first projects with walnut. Love working with it !
- made a jig for the box joints since had never cut them before. Worked pretty well. Took a while to get it adjusted but worked well.
- boxes were first also.

This is a simple DVD box. Put DVD's of my children in it for the grandparents.

Number 2 is a slightly more complicated DVD box with family DVD's for the other grandparents.

Another pic of the 2nd DVD box.

The third box was a small box for my grandmother for holding crochet needles. She is 99 and stll very, very clear mentally. The lid just sits on top, no hinges.

Very nicely done. Did you cut the box joints with a table saw or with a router table?

Beautiful work. I bet they loved them. Good choice on walnut. It is a gorgeous wood.

The joints were cut on the table saw using the Freud SD508 dado blade.

Thanks for the comments !
