I have an old PC 555 plate jointer that has served me well. Yesterday the tool went intermittent on me, only starting occasionally. The problem turned out to be the power cord. I looked on ServiceNet for a replacement part and found it would be backordered until May 16, 2007.

Anyone know where I can find a replacement cord sooner than that?

Is there some sort of special connector on the cord that precludes just using a cord of the right diameter and gauge? Sorry if that's a dumb question.

Check here. I've bought pc parts from them before. Good to deal with.

Thanks for the Tool Parts Direct Link. They have the part. Unfortunately the cost of the shipping and handling exceeds the cost of the repair part (power cord). I think I am going to try and take the tool apart and see if I can figure something else out.

Unless there is something very unusual about the cord, you may very well be able to adapt a "standard" replacement cord to the task. To know that, you'll need to open things up...
