Well you wanted to see the Stubby after I got it dirty. Here it is and here is a pi of Cedar hollow form I was working on until it came apart. I should've known better than to mess with very dry cedar. It was brittle and the wall wasn't even that then,

Then there was this goblet I was working on out of some Dogwood I had stored in some trash bags for the past 4 years. This stuff is still wet. If you notice I cut a captive ring on it. Once it dries a little more I will turn the base down a little smaller and make the cup portion a little thinner from the inside.

Yup...looks like a Stubby "in use"!! Bummer on the uncooperative turning...it happens...

BTW, if you're not actively using the aux bed and 2nd tool rest base, you may find it more comfortable to work with it off the machine...a good poke in the ribs was the only incentive I needed for that decision one day!

Jim,
Right now it works as a little table for me but I'll keep that in mind the first time I rack my ribs on it.
Beleive it or not but that cedar started off as a 16" block. I kept running into small cracks that would then split out. It was my first time trying cedar and now I understand why not too many people mess with it. Tomorrow I'll try the other dreaded wood, Elm. A friend brought me some of each to try and if it turned out half way decent then he wanted a bowl for his Wedding House. They rent out the house and property for weddings outside of Nashville. The house was built in 1837 and the wood came off the property. He sorta wanted something from a tree there for display purposes. I told him to look for fruitwoods and hardwoods other than oak.

When you get time could you send me some pics of your setup? Thanks, Brian
