Just finished this. The HF is Ambrosia Maple and the top is Paduk. The lid has suction, so a very good fit.

Showed to LOML. She likes the HF. She likes the lid. She just didn't like them together. She feels that a darker wood for the lid would be better.

What do you folks think!

Bruce;)

I like it Bruce with the lid. I like the contrasting woods.

Bruce - really nice work! I like the forms and finish of both the hollow form and the lid! Have to agree with your wife (she is right no matter what) that a darker lid would showcase the hollow form grain patterns.

I'm with Steve and LOYL. I like the form of both pieces and especially the detail on the flat 'top' of the lid - but think a darker or more brown-based lid would better highlight the nice HF. Good job on both the pieces.

I like em all three! Each and every piece is just pretty.

Really nice work. The woods are beautiful. I might agree that a darker wood would be better, also the lid could be smaller. Other than that everything looks real super!!!! Great job!

Excellent first! Y'know, the lid being padauk rather than a darker species really has strengths. The padauk brings out a certain red hue to the AM that is otherwise not apparent. Besides, the padauk will darken as it ages so I would give it a few months instead of turning another one to replace it.

I like it Bruce, but as stated already listen to the boss. Hey it gives you an excuse for more spinny time.

If a man is alone in the woods
and there is no one there to hear him.
Is he still wrong?

Of course your wife is right, no mater how many of us disagree with her.:D

Yes. Always. Even if he changes his mind, he is still wrong.

(Guess who's NOT watching me type this!)
