I was given a nice gift card to Lee Valley and am leaning toward the LA block plane. Does anyone know, Rob???, if any discounts are offered to SMC members?

Lee Valley doesn't have sales as such. Once every few years they will discount a discontinued item and send a flier out to regular customers by mail.

LV displays at Woodworking shows and when product is ordered they give free shipping and I dont recall if a discount of 10% was given last. Next show West Springfield MA ( rt 91).
