Last night I was out at a friends barn and they were spliting wood. As they were doing this I noticed that some of the logs were splitting and this bright red appeared. I saved one about 12 inches in Diameter and about 20 inches long.
Below is one of the split pieces.

If this is good wood for turning anyone in the Western Suburbs of Chicago can pick it up FREE of charge.

Please let me know. I just thought it might be a nice present for a turner.

Thanks,

Flaming Box Elder? Naw.....that's no good for turning....very dangerous. You better send it to me so I can dispose of it properly.;)

The log is gone. I hope they make something nice with it.

Should I get some of the split logs? Can you still use them?

I am no expert, but I would say...GRAB AS MUCH AS YOU CAN! I'm sure that someone here will take it off your hands, and may make you a really cool piece in return! Shame I'm not closer to you!

Well, I can't get there, but I'd pay for shipping to STL.
