Spun these up on Sunday in between various other festivities and ended up getting so rushed that I forgot about pics until they were all wrapped up and under the tree. These came from a slab of cherry burl I've had for a while and it's shape was such that I could never figure out what to do with it. Til now!

Enjoy - and Merry Christmas!

Nice pieces Andy.

Ya know...it's funny... I have yet to do a confetti lamp. I wonder if this is the beginning of 20 or 30 years of me saying, "Ya know...it's funny....I have yet to do a confetti lamp".

Are these confetti lamps used inside? Like a kerosene lamp? Should you put a globe on them? I remember the post about them being "strewn" about a patio like confetti for random lighting, but wondered about inside use without electricity?

Andy,
Sure like the shape of those lamps, not the same as the ones I picked up. Where do you get yours from, if i may ask?

I really like the grain and shape of the second one (left one in the combo picture). Great job on 'em.

Thanks Andy. Those are beautiful. I got four kits for Christmas and was wondering how to make the lamps. Now I have some ideas.

Cool Andy, I like the look of that wood.:)

Thanks fellers.

Nope, not a kit. Based on advice read here I found them at Walmart in the candle section - 97 cents per. Yup - inside use. Had one fired up in the living room for a few hours yesterday and there was no odor at all. Burns just like a plain old candle. We lose power all the time here, so I'm gonna scatter 'em around the house.

If someone was smart, they'd figure out how to do one of these such that they hold a book of matches. Lemme know when ya do, 'cause I'm stumped.

Hey, Andy, how about making a rim at some point (away from the flame!!), drilling some indexed (or not) holes in it just the right size for standing wooden matches? You could glue a bit of sandpaper to the recessed bottom for striking too.
I like the one with the rim, all it needs is a ring-shaped handle and it would imitate the old time portable candle holders.

Gary voiced my exact thoughts, actually what my wife and I talked about when looking at them, a little brass ring with extensions to fasten it to the rim would look just like an old time candle holder with handle like in the Christmas stories! Beautiful work Andy, LOML is going to check WalMart for me next time she goes. Are you turning these twice, or drying or what? Thanks again for the help and great examples of what to achieve!
