I saw a video once of this backhoe loading itself on top of a rail car.
I lost the link and my searchs so far have turned up zilch. So I'm hoping some has seen it and bookmarked it.

I just thought it was impressive

I haven't seen the video, but I'd be even more interested in how it unloaded itself after the rail car was emptied.

Definitely a "don't try this at home" moment!! (I do recall stills of this, but not a video)

The railroad had a rig like that unloaded cars here in Ashtabula. It was used several years. I don't know what it was unloading, but it looked as if it traveled on the top edge of the cars. I couldn't get close to it. I think it had a set up with duel wheels.

The video is pretty awsome. I've loaded them on flatbed semi trailers that way. It's interseting to ay the least.

Jim
Unloading was just the reverse of loading.

Earl
Some of the video shots showed a set of wheels on the front and rear that where controlled by hydraullics. They claimed it was for use in remote locations to unload cars.
