Hi All, Here is my version of the Victorian style wood top. This toy uses a little flat work and a bit of turning. Toys are a great way to use up those short bits and pieces that you didn't want to throw away. This top uses maple and Cherry for the holder with Maple and Oak for the spinner. I make the top from 8 segments and always try to cut them from the same piece of stock. That way the grain lines up when it is turned.. The finish on this one is lacquer. Regards,

Nice design Bill. I like the string-n-ring idea.
How long will it spin?

Nice work Bill. Really nice design and looks like it would spin at warp 2!

Very nice looking top. Last time I spun one of these, it lasted more than 4 minutes!

Wow, nice set. I'm never going to throw any bit of wood in the fire if all of you guys keep coming up with idea like this for 'scraps'...

Thanks for sharing the top that's "TOPS" with us.

Always a pleasure to see what is possible with a little thought and a lot of talent.

Cool Bill! Now we know where all those UFO sightings came from. Now I know what is being kept secret in Area 51... A giant lathe making your tops!:)
