I found this picture on the web and thought that this group would appreciate it. I have heard of finding strange things in trees when preparing blanks but this is a bit extreme :D .

Happy Holidays!

This picture is proof that doing anything close to a malaluca tree can be hazardous to your health! It grows almost as fast as Kudzu.....Jack

Looks a little like my old 650 Triumph from about a century ago, but can't be sure. Maybe a BSA? Anybody know?

Stu would love that one...he could score some wood and some motorcycle parts all in the same place!!!

I'm seeing Yamaha on the engine case, but it could just be my imagination. Looks like sometime in the 60s.

Looks like an old "yellerhammer" like what Gary said.

Yamaha was building two-strokes in the mid to late '60's, but don't know about before then. To me the bike looks British and the seat looks Japanese. Come on woodturner/bikers (trying to stay on topic), jump in here.

The engine profile and gearcase cover say Honda. I figured it for a photo shopped picture till Jack said that those trees really do grow that fast. I mean in the amount of time needed for any other "normal" tree to grow around anything the seat would be weathered to rags.

I was inclined to believe it, as I've seen something like that before, though with a bicycle. Berke Breathed (Bloom County author) had a photo like that in one of his christmas story books.

I'm inclined to think this is a spoof.

There are areas in the photo that have been changed and shows as different sized pixels.

David, Oh yeah, I forgot about the 450 Honda that came out some time in the '70's? I think you nailed it. I was only turning metal in those days (trying to stay on topic). Didn't learn about turning wood until much later.
