These are for MIL and parents. Both pieces Watco'd and Beall buffed.
Cherry, 5.25 x 3.75
53219

...and Ambrosia Maple, 5.5 x 3.75
53220
This was the first Ambrosia Maple I've turned. I think I found a new favorite. The stuff was really fun to turn. Thanks for looking.

As you can see I still have a long way to go with getting the lighting right for photos.

Very nice work Mark! I have always loved cherry but as of yet haven't turned ambrosia maple. Have to admit that I like the grain of the maple even better! Nice forms and great looking finish!

Steve, the AM cut very cleanly with minimal tearout. It was almost "gliding" off the edge of my bowl gouge. Of course it helped that I had a razor sharp edge fresh off the grinder, but I had the same edge with the cherry and it fought me all the way. Only the "80 grit gouge" could cure the tearout on the cherry. Kinda explains why its finished diameter is a little smaller--LOL.

Nice stuff, Mark.

Yup. That's maple. I once hacked a small bowl into nothingness because I was having so much fun making excelsior.

Those are beauties Mark. They should be well received. Nice work. Amborsia maple is some good stuff to turn.

I have some scrap maple lying around and that thought has occurred to me! LOL
