Got a commission to make a gavel for a newly elected judge who will be sworn in in January.
The Wood is Paduk. The finish is two coats of Butcher Block Oil, allowed to dry for a week then buffed with the Beal System.
Sure hope he likes it.

Well, Jim, I reread your post. The guy buying it didn't want one, but when I brought it up again, he said that he would see.
I have a Friend that Laser engraives some of my pieces. On one side it states the Judges name and on the other "Justice with Mercy"

Hope that you had as much fun sanding the padauk as I did the first time I turned the stuff. Jeesh. I had the greasy dust everywhere, but it sure finishes well. Looks great as expected.
