Copying a freehand signature

Anyone have any ideas on how to take someones signature ( freehand) and bring it into corel to engrave?

I do it often. (Golf score cards)

Get them to sign a nice white paper with a good black pen.

Scan it in.
Convert it to greyscale.

Bump the contrast up and set brightness so it looks like a sharp black and white.

Crop it down to just around the sig.

Save it as .bmp

import into Corel.
