Last one from this weekend. This is from a big Poplar downed by the hurricanes last year at my parent's house. 10" diameter by 7" tall. Painted the inside flat black and added the texturing just becasue ;) . Buffed gel poly finish.

I've been eyeballing hollowing tools...........I think I'll just stick to bottle stoppers!........Travis....what could I say that I haven't said before?.......You set an awfully high bar! Excellent......as usual!

To me, the texturing really makes the piece. As usual, incredibly beautiful work Travis.

Travis, That looks great but, I think you could turn styrofoam and make it look good. Keep it up, it's very inspiring to see your work.

Very impressive turning Travis! I like the texturing as it makes it look like you combined 2 different materials.
Did you apply the gel-poly to the textured area also? Can't really tell from the photo but the lack of gloss makes me think that you skipped that area. I like the contrasting effect.

I padded the gel poly in the textured area Steve. It just didn't get buffed! ;)
