This piece is fram a cherry chrotch which had a small burl starting. It measures about 4-1/4" tall x 7-1/2" dia. Finished with wipe on gel poly and beall buffed. Thanks for looking and your critiques and comments are welcomed.

Pretty piece Keith! When turning I often crank up the radio and sing along....that piece would have made me stutter! Nicely done!

Beautiful piece Keith. Nice shape for the colors in the wood. Might be able to hold a little bit of soup - nah, as Andy said, 'tis a piece of art.

Did you have a death wish that day? Sitting still it looks like it could fly apart.

I have a curse that causes injury to my body on Holidays of even number years. '02 severed 4 ligaments in my knee, '04 ran a carving gouges through my finger severing a tendon I don't think I'll try anything like this over the '06 Christmas week.

That an amazing turning.

Thanks all for your comments. They are appreciated. I was suprised how strong/stable this piece was. I had hoped that some of the bark would stay in the crack, but no way was it staying. Thanks again.

Looking at the thumbnail, the opening and void/crack look kinda like a tornado....:cool:
