This is my first post with a completed project. Just wanted to share it with the good people here. It is made out of African Mahogany and was a lot of fun to make........(yeah right.....I dug it out of the trash twice. Once it made it all the way to the curb and I dug it out before the garbage truck got here.)

Thanks for the imput guys. I am going to post a couple more pics that are better. The first one I posted made looked yellow for some reason. Maybe these will be more representative of what it really looked like.

Making small parts is much harder than making large parts. Getting the fit just right for a project like a jewelry box is time consuming and exacting work. I find that when a mistake happens and I get frustrated, it is better to put things away for a day or so rather than put it in the trash. Sometimes the best ideas come when you aren't actively working on something.

The end result is worth it. Nice looking box. I'm sure the recipient will love it.

Very nice Marty. Looks great to me. Would you mind explaining how the drawers work? Are they on runners? If so, how did you get the runners properly aligned so the drawers would slide easily? Once again - nice work indeed.

The drawers are on runners. I had several ideas prior to taking this route, but this was the easiest way to make this work. Alignment was fairly easy believe it or not, and the bottom drawer slides completely out to expose a hidden compartment in the base of the box. I have several pictures of the construction that I can post if anyone is interested.

Nice job Marty. Doesn't Christmas just seem to be the time for boxes? Nicely made piece. THanks for showing!

Thanks guys.

I am glad this project is complete and is now in the hands of the new owner. (I couldn't wait till Christmas to give it to her) For me the greatest part about something like this, other than the actual designing and building of a project, is giving it to someone when it's complete. So now it's on to something new.......just not sure what?????
