I took a breather after the Christmas show a couple weeks ago. Hopped back in the saddle with this Ebony HF on my Jet mini. 5 1/2" diameter by 2" tall. Buffed Seal-a-cell finish.

Nicely done Travis! Beautifully finished!

Beautiful form..and I'm glad for the sapwood, otherwise it might appear to be glass, or plastic and loose its identity as an exquisite wood turning

Travis, you just keep on one-upping yourself. My favorites box is FULL of threads from this forum of your work so I can go back and see them. You are an inspiration to me, and someday I hope to be able to turn out work that is 1/4 as good as yours.

This piece is absolutely spectacular, and I agree with the comments that the sapwood is necessary to keep people from thinking it's glass. I don't know how you do it, but each piece is just a little more-perfect than the one before!

Very spectacular Travis. I'll give it a AAA rating. One for form, one for finish and one for the photograph.

Beautiful piece! How many coats of Seal-a-Cell did it take to get that "glass" appearance?

I have to chime in here too, truly spectacular...I suspect that you have a magic wand close to your latherizer. Excellent in all aspects.

Thanks everyone. Mark, since Ebony polishes up so nicely on it's own, it only has 2 coats of Seal-a-cell.

Travis,

I am (relatively) new here and hardly post but all your work are awesome and inspiring. I look forward the day I can make something that even just closely resembles them.

Travis,

That is one beautiful form! I only have a Jet Mini and it's nice to know that you produced this on something that I have access to. Now I just need to work on my technique so I don't have to sand, recut, sand some more, remove more tool marks, sand some more....you get it!

Thanks for posting...It give us all something to shoot for!

Travis,
Holy Smokes! What a beauty!!!!!

Did you have to turn that thing naked? My local guy asks for the shirt off my back and my first born for ebony.
