Changing Bandsaw Blades

I've noticed some bandsaws have the slot in the table to change blades in the front, while others are on the side. Do saws with the slot on the front account for this when mounting the fence rail? Or do you have to remove a bolt from the rail to remove the blade? Or is the rail split?

On my Minimax both the rail mounting bolts are located to the left of the blade slot.

On mine BS, I have 2 thumb screws to loosen and swing the fence out of the way to do blade changes. Slide it back, tighten the thumb screws and away we go. :D
