52589I have been turning with new lathe about a month now, blown up a couple of bowls. Bought a face shield! Having trouble with bowl gouge on inside of smaller bowls, find I have much better success with scrapers. I will make a jig for sharpening gouge and keep at it! Built the pvc photo booth you guys were discussing on line. I am going to try my first down load hope they go through! Afraid my pictures need as much work as my bowls! Thanks for all the help and inspiration:)

On your pics...they look pretty good too...though you might want to pull the camera back just a skosh. (you'll get more focus on the whole piece);)

Camera work aint bad, actually. What color is your background (compare to a commonly known color)? If it's white or just a bit off white, you have a white balance problem, which may be easily correctable depending on the camera you use.
Oh yeah, nice turnings too.

Skip, you have an eye for form. This will lead you to a bright future in woodturning. I am amazed you have been turning for only such a short time, and I will be looking forward to more of your work. For the inside finishing I use a very sharp large skew from P&N. This is used very lightly as a scraper and it prevents tearout which gives me a smooth surface to start sanding.

As for the pics, I'm in the learning process with those too. If your camera has manual settings you can go into the White Balance section and tweek it around until you get rid of that yellowish color. Or play with some different lights that give off a Daylight type of light.
