I just discovered a DVD rental outfit called SmartFlix. They focus on technical hobby videos. They've got a pretty good selection of woodworking/woodturning videos. Quite a bit from Taunton, the Lie-Nielsen videos, Tom Law's saw sharpening, etc.

The individual rentals are a little pricey at $9.95, but that includes postage both ways. Multi-video sets rent at a discount. You get to keep the videos about a week. There are a few videos out there that I'd like to keep as a reference, but this is a reasonable savings for those that I only expect to view once. They've also got a good selection of specialty videos like canoe/kayak building and lutherie plus things like blacksmithing for anyone who wants to dip their toes in something new.

I don't want to step on toes by posting the URL - but it should be easy to figure out given the company name. I've only rented once so far, but everything went smoothly.

I have no affiliation other than having used the service - just wanted to pass it on.
