Well, here is the Photo Box with a finish on it. It is for holding 4 x 6 photos of my three grandboys. My daughters Birthday is Thursday and this was what she wanted. It's 19"w x 16"h x 23"d and has Bartleys Gel Varnish on it. Made of Ambrosia Maple.

I like how you continued the grain on the drawer fronts. Good job! Todd.

Chris -

That is nice. But with 3 boys, she is going to need another one pretty soon. You'll be suprised how fast it fills up.

Oh well, another excuse to build something. :)

Good job,
Ted

That's a good looking piece. Nice use of grain on the front. ANy particular reason why the base trim stopps part way bacK on the sides?

Yes there is Lee! Cross-grain situation and me still in the learning stage decided to just turn the corner onto the first board. I have had suggestions since to use a sliding dovetail or to just pin it with brads and hope nothing happens. Anyway, I'm leaving it alone at this point. Thanks for looking.

Beautiful wood and nice execution! Me thinks she should be very happy with it. How many coats of Bartley's did you end up applying? Seems I never know when to stop.....

John, Thanks for the look and comments. Actually the photo box only has one good wipe on coat at this point. Hope it will be sufficient, if not she knows who to bring it back to. Ha ha.

Looks great Chris. I like the continuous grain. Now you gotta make some turned thing to set on top. Maybe a lamp. My one experience with spalted maple made me sick, literally. I sanded without a mask.
