After 2 and a half months of pickin away after work and a
few weekends its done. Another Rustic piece for my camp
in the Adirondacks.
Its made from Tiger maple and yellow birch for the legs and
trim. A little white birch bark and whitetail antlers for accents.
Topcoated with Dewaxed shellac and laquer. All materials
harvested in the Adirondacks.
Thanks for looking. :)

Wow. That is actually pretty cool. I also bet that there was a fair amount of work put into it.http://www.sawmillcreek.org/images/icons/icon14.gif

That figure really pops! Did you use some dye to help out there?

Super Nice work Rick. The top is fantastic.

Question about the Birch bark......did you do anything to ensure the bark won't peel off with time?

Look great. Good to know, also, that everything was harvested from my neck of the woods.

Hi Rick,

That it a very nice piece! I love the Tiger Maple. Did you mill it or do you have a supplier near your camp?

Thats really neat Rick. The maple is magnificent! I second the question as to how you prevent the birch bark from eventually peeling. Is that a pine cone accent in the centre of the side skirt? Well done. Very Adirondacks!

I am lucky enough to have a couple of suppliers right near my camp.
Both are old retired guys, ( both are cool guys also) that do it more
as a hobby. They both have some really nice stuff...Cheap!

Yellow birch is pretty much the choice of Adirondack furniture
artist/craftsmen. Bark holds forever. Has to be harvested in
winter. I put a little epoxy on the edges where I notched the
legs. Topcoat keeps the bark from flakeing. If youv'e never seen
yellow birch/river birch, the bark is very unique.
Yes that is a pine cone end. I cut it on the chop saw & glued it
on.
