I had this chunk of maple sitting around and it had the pith in the middle of it so I wasn't sure what to do with it. I started thinking about these lamps that everyone is doing so I figured I'd give it a go. I was afraid of it cracking so I figured I'd hollow it, then I thought I'd make a collared cup that would support the lamp and I could make different cups for different sized lights. It came out okay, I think. It will still get some more finish work done though.
Let me know what you think.

Looks great Kevin. Looks like you may even have room to store a spare lamp in the hollowed form.

Thanks everyone.
I'd like to think this is something new but I'm sure its been done before. If not, I'll claim it ;)
Mike, I'll have to check and see, thats a great thought though.

...or, at least, a small lighter or some matches! :) Nice job, Kevin and no, I don't believe I've seen that particular "version" of a lamp before! Good idea! :)
