I took down a fair-sized black cherry Saturday and ended up with a pretty good sized burl. I want to have it milled but need to know how to proceed. I've waxed the exposed parts and it's sitting in the wood shed under cover. Do I mill it green? Do I let is season for a year or two? Do I mill it green and sticker it for a year to dry? Do I mill it green and dry it right away in a Kiln? I'm going to cut it in slabs for a couple small tables and perhaps a couple bigger pieces for gun stocks.
Any advice will be greatly apreciated!!
