My first Sketch-Up drawing!
I'm designing the subject cabinet to put under my TS:

It's about 44Lx30Hx27D. I had this on my previous saw:

Looking for suggestions/(kind)critism.
Thanks,

Hi Mike

I have a router table as part of my right tablesaw wing. It's a nice solution for limited space. I don't have my router enclosed and would like to figure a way but haven't yet. Of course you'll post pics if you build it, right? You DO NOT want a visit from the picture police, especially this time of year. The department head is headquartered in the frozen north, and I don't know what kind of mood he'd be in.

Are small thumbnails banned (thought it was a way to save space at SMC)?

Looking good Mike. I'm working on my latest version right now. I posted some start up pics just because I was excited to get started. Hope to finish it less the drawers and doors this weekend.

I want to do the same thing.

Looks like a fine idea to me! One of the major drawbacks to most "router in the TS Extension" setups is dust collection...and storage. Your solution solves both quite nicely!

Mike,
Great idea & drawing on the cabinets. I've been trying to figure out how best to come up with something similar for my router under my right wing. I already have the 4 drawer cabinet & blade storage, but the issue I am challenged with is my over arm dust collection & blade guard that comes up on the right side of the extension. I may have to re-think how my overarm guard attaches to give me clear space at the end of my table extension. I have the PSI guard & mounting the blade guard to the ceiling is not an option for me.

Mike,

Nice TS! And the cabinet design is first class! I wish I had seen this before I started mine! Oh well !!! It will work! :)

Thanks for the feedback!

But....I found this over the weekend and definately somehow need to incorporate it into my table (the Incra template holder):

It looks like you have a perminent TS guard bracket right in the way. When using such a router table, you stand at the end of the wing, not in front like the saw.

I've been thinking for a long time about removing mine from my saw and going to a freestanding.

I think you are looking at my old saw/set-up. That shop made overarm was easily removable with two hand wheels.

Mike,

You and I have been in contact over my setup, which is similar to yours. I'm posting it here for additional feedback.

Nice cabinets guys.

I am about to start a table saw cabinet too. Mine needs to move around and fit the extended rails on my General 50-185. My shop sort of shares 3 rooms that perform other functions as well and a big stationary table saw just will not work. I plan to use a Festool router and table instead of a router table so I do not need to mount a router in my extended rails or collect the dust.

Since I have a contractor table saw I will be incorporating dust collection for it within the cabinet. I talked to Lee at LeeWay Workshop and I think he can make a Shark Guard with a dust port that my Festool Dust Collector will attach to. I can attach the regular shop vac to the dust collecting section of my table saw cabinet to remove anything that ends up in there.

I was planing on using Danny Proulx's plans in his "Woodshop Workstations" book.

I was going to make some modifications anyway so I may "borrow" a couple ideas from these posts too. Danny uses MDF and I will go with plywood for cabinets and table tops. I think I am going to order Veritas's heavy duty casters, but it looks like I need 8 and those things are not cheap.
