Looks like I am about to exhibit my ignorance (again):o :o . In my Wood Handbook (no. 72) table 3-2 is for color and figure. For many of the wood species the description "do" is used in the columns for heartwood color, plainsawed lumber, and quartersawed lumber. This description is used in various tables. I suspect the description will end up as something very obvious where even Homer Simpson would have known the use.:o
Can someone please educate me as to it's true meaning/use????

Dan, "do" is used in that case as a substitute to avoid repetition. In other words, it can be read as the same as the description above, without reepeating the above. Some people simply use quote marks to indicate this. This convention ("do") is often found in architectural plans. HTH.
