Here's another covered jar. It's made from a maple burl with a walnut rim and lid. These are a lot of fun to do, the tough part is gettting the burls. This one is about 6 inches tall to the top of the lid. It's finished with several coats of walnut oil and polished with Mahoney's walnut wax.

Thanks for asking and the kind words. I've been turning for about two years. I started with a Jet Mini like around 90% of all the folks here. I kept the Jet and added a Robust 25x28 last year. Like some smart guy said you can turn small pots on a large lathe but.......well you know. This is way to addictive to stop now now.

Man those are some awesome colors there and you knew how to really bring them out wth the shape you used. Awesome!

Thanks guys great comments! I had a excellent day, I just scored some more burls. Not sure what they are yet, but lots of color. Gotta start up the lathe!
