Building my shop cabinets and just ordered the Acuride Series 3832 Zinc Box Drawer Slides (Rockler). Will take about a week for them to arrive. Would like to start building the drawers but do not know how much space on each side to allow for the drawer slides. Can anyone help? Or should I be patient and wait for the slides to arrive?

I would bet money, and your drawer boxes (!) that you need 1/2" on each side, +- 1/16th. Make them right on and you'll be fine.

I will typically make the box 1" narrower than the opening, +- 16th or less. (I shoot for right on the money.) Todd.

(Yes, I just checked. See here on the accuride web site.

I did a quick google search on Accuride Series 3832 and found that Rockler sells them. Their web site has specifications (http://www.rockler.com/ecom7/product_details.cfm?sku=1499#moreinfo) that says you need to allow 1/2" per side for the slides. You can get away with about 1/16" total too much room, but if there is too little things won't fit. If your opeing ends up a little too wide or the drawer is a bit too small, you can shim the drawer slide with a couple of layers of masking tape or thin pieces of veneer.

I use the 3832 a lot and as with all the accuride slides you do not want to allow less than 1/2" per side. There are a couple of the heavier duty ones (can't remember which right now) that need more than 1/2" space so don't assume they are all the same. Steve

Steve is right. I wouldn't mess with it until you see the "zink" in their eyes. :) Nothing like taking two them and measure the total thickness.
