It sleeted/snowed today in the DFW area. Most folks got a pretty solid blanket of ice and snow. I stayed home [of course] and decided to build a miter saw stand for my new saw.

The wife visited the shop around 4pm with some nice hot Wassel....it had been snowing outside and I was toasty warm in the little shop with a hot drink [and a good propane heater]. Life is good!

So here's how it turned out....

Nice project on a rotten day! The powers that be finally let us go at 5:00. A whole hour early! Nice being your own boss, huh? Jim.

Where's the snow? If that is snow, we got a major blizzard a few weeks ago. You could barely see the top half of the grass! :D

We are getting it good right now. My task was to setup the Sawstop.

Very nice Kelly. I'm disappointed though that you didn't have time for a Cup "O" Coffee when you came and "Borrowed" my yeller Saw horses.:D It was cold enough here, that I didn't even notice them missing when I was in the shop to get a ladder to clean out one of the shop's rain gutters. :D

I was sure wishing for a shop heater too so I could do something in there, 'cause after cleaning all the wet and half rotted pine cones and needles out of just one gutter, I thought I had frost bite on my fingers, (with leather gloves on too), so I made an executive decision that the other (Longer side's gutter), could just wait for a warmer day for cleaning.;)

Is that the "NEW" model DeWalt? Looks like it is a double bevel model. I wanted a double bevel, but have the old model, single bevel that I got for a pretty good price on a closeout at Sears early this year, and I really like it as it is a real workhorse and has performed flawlessly, even after hauling it from W Tx across all the bumpy roads to Cullman Ala, (North of Birmingham) to trim out an addition to a friend's mothers house, and then back to w Tx.

Norman...it was quite a drive to get those horses, no time to chit chat...:D

Yes, it's the 'new' 716R double bevel CMS. I bought my heater for around $60 including the full propane tank...sure is nice having a heated shop.

Nice looking saw stand, Kelly.

Up here in McKinney, last night we had a lot of wind and the temp got down to around 21, but just a dusting of snow. The sun has melted most of it. Yesterday there was a little rain/sleet, just enough to cover the grass and put ice on the chain-link fence.

We missed the brunt of the storm, it sounds like Oklahoma got nail pretty good. :(

BTW, very nice stand.

Fantastic project. I'd love to have one just like that, but I don't even have a MS yet. I did make a copy of the pictures for the future. BTW - Today we have temperatures in the mid-70s with beautiful sunshine. I''l be out in my "shop" (garage) after work today. I can't wait. :D

Dave,
Here in Mid Michigan I think we have enough snow to make a tray of ice cubes as well as a couple of snow cones. So far we have about 4 inches and it is still falling. Picked up a rock in my snow blower that broke something and had to get the John Deere with the back blade out.

We got 11 inches of snow today in Northern Illinois. Worked all day from home thanks to the Internet. Then spent over 2 hours cleaning off my driveway. Didn't spend a minute in the shop. Hopefully tomorrow I can finish the wooden recipe boxes that I am building for Xmas presents.

Sorry to report it was 73* today in SoCal. Around here we visit the snow. When we're done we go to the beach.

That oughta come in mighty handy Kelly. I have to go to Arlington tomorrow to talk to a man about a horse, but I'll try to drop in and see it when I get a chance.

BTW, hope you had fun at karaoke tonight. I was home with the boys while the wife is away in San Antonio for a counselor convention. I would have made it by the Side Street otherwise.

Tell the Mrs. I said "hi", and I'll see y'all soon.
