Has anyone purchased...or have an opinion about the training program CD offered by the lynda.com site? They offer many training programs...the one that caught my attention was the Corel Draw X3 program...11 hours of "how to" use the program for $100.

The "full" X3 upgrade version includes training videos from lynda.

A couple of days ago we installed our new X3 program...didn't see anything about lynda.com or upgrades when the program opened...where would I start looking for it/them? I would rather not spend another $100 for the lynda.com CDs.

Here's the link which details what's included in the Full X3 package:

Maybe on one of the higher number discs (disc 3 or 4).

I have the upgrade version as I have been a licensed user since version 2 or 3. In that package it is disc 2 that has the Lynda training videos.

On the full suite it is on disk three

While I was browsing the disk to figure out what files to copy to my laptop so I could put the disk back away, I noticed that there is a file in the Lynda directory that is called FreePass.pdf or something like that. It has a link that lets you sign up for a single day free trial of Lynda. Here is the link.

I recently got Mike Clarke's manual for Corel X3 specifically written for laser users and found it to be very helpful and worth the $119.00 from Laserbits. It has a recource CD - also helpful.

I've had a membership to Lynda.com for several years and have found the videos to be excellent--very thorough and accurate. As a graphic design instructor, I've introduced the website to my college students to brush up on various software programs. If you have broadband internet access, you can watch all the videos for $25 per month, and discontinue your membership whenever you want rather than purchase the CD. I personally don't feel that the support files are absolutely necessary--you can pick up a whole lot just from watching.
