The LOML bought some full sized commercial baking sheets (26" x 18") on E-Bay that have seen some heavy use. They need a heavy cleaning and the typical Brillo pad isn't going to cut it. I was thinking of using acetone and steel wool (and some heavy duty HazMat gloves). But there are probably some health and environmental issues with acetone. Anyone out there with some other suggestions or experience? Thanks

If you have a self-cleaning oven, try running them through a couple cycles in it. That ought to burn off most of the residue.

We did that with some commercial weight muffin tins a few years ago, and it cleaned them up quite well.

Dan -

Try some ammonia. Put the pans in a big plastic garbage bag. Then put in about a cup of ammonia. Tie the top of the bags and let the ammonia work for 24-48 hours. Much of the gunk will wipe right off. You may have to repeat the process once more.
