Curly Maple candy dish 7 ½” x 7 ½” x 2”. Two coats of Watco Natural and then buffed. Left the underneath of dish natural as I really liked the wavy wood that was under the bark. Used a wire brush to remove any remains of the bark. So, what do you think?

Looks very sharp and that classic curl. Plus nice use of a mill slab.

I like it. I'll be you get a lot of compliments on it and that folks will want to pick it up to feel it's heft.

Steve, that's cool and one great way to make something utilitarian and artistic at the same time, while preserving so much of that beautiful figure in the wood! Great idea, me thinks. :)

Well done, Steve. Gorgeous chunk of wood; but it does seem to be darker than most maple I've encountered.

It's stuff like this that provides inspiration for all the odds and ends I've got lying around. Thanks!
