I had the privilege of meeting and talking to David Marks at the local Woodcraft Woodworking show Saturday here in Knoxville.

David is a very nice guy and took 5 minutes or so with each person that stood in line to meet him. He answered questions, displayed some wood panels finished in numerous ways and gave advice on questions posed.

I told him about the “Creek” and how some of the members had emailed DIY and asked for more shows etc. He was very appreciative of our interest. I told him I would be interested in a show on how he built his various jigs and set ups and there is one that is “in the can” to be aired in the next few weeks. I joked about the multi-router and he laughed and said it was the only way to do what he does in a 30 minute show, and he is left handed and has carpel-tunnel in his left wrist. Also he commented on a turning show and how the director was concerned about some of the vases he turns and how the camera couldn’t show what was happening inside and how they were going to band saw a project in half to show it. Another show is going to be on hand tools and scraper sharpening etc.

It’s never a bad idea to keep DIY and HGTV aware of our interest in woodworking and the type shows we are interested in seeing as well as the schedule for them.
