Not quite finished yet, but I created this "rolling kitchen cabinet" (my own design). I can later take off the locking casters and mount it on a 2"x4" base to make it a permanent island. Still need to finish making the drawer and the right side will contain a garbage can on drawer slides. It is 31" deep and 42" long and 36" high. Made out of common soft maple (it's only $1.35/bd ft in my area, which is cheaper than poplar but seems to hold fasteners better). Pocket screwed the face frame, tongue and groove the sides, face frame and floor. I made my own top out of 3/4" melamine edge banded with the maple. Some of "firsts for me were", using biscuits on the top edge banding, raising the panel doors (out of MDF). This is going to be painted. It is my attempt at convincing my wife that we don't need to buy $4,000+ worth of cabinets from the BORG. I figure I have about $125 worth of raw material including the drawer slides, hinges, and locking casters into it.
