I've narrowed my choices for a new drill press to either the Delta 17-965 or the Jet JDP-17. I would appreciate any input from owners of these machines. What do you like/dislike etc. Thanks for your help

Have the Jet now for almost five years...no problems with it and it does the job admirably. The long throw (depth of cut) has come in handy a number of times.

Some folks don't like the round table, but I don't consider it an issue as the first thing I did was make a large, 18" x 24" auxilliary table more appropriate for woodworking anyway. I've never used the machine without it!

I recently purchased the Jet JDP 17. (an upgrade to my old Chicago). I love it so far -- and Jim is right, the longer throw has already come in handy a couple of times.

Thanks for the input Jim and Ken. Bought the Jet today, got it assembled and made a couple of holes. Looking forward to using it seriously. Thanks again.
