Here is a file that the customer created using Open Source software. First he sent me a file with the .odg extension that I could not open as I do not have that software. I had him export it as a .pdf file. When I open the pdf file I see the vector lines but no text.

Object manager shows all the text but I cannot see it in the cdr file. I also sent the job to the laser raster only and still no text can anyone help?

Object manager shows all the text but I cannot see it in the cdr file.Select the text objects in Object Manager and change the color. Also try bringing the text to the front: it may be behind a white filled object.

Did you get any 'font not found' messages when you opened it?

No errors when opening.

Hmmm...I see only two text objects in the Object Manager, each for a single letter 'S'. Should be 10 or so.

(That's with either 'open' or 'import' in X3.)

Jeff, try the PDF attached. I think it is fixed. There was something strange about the file, all of the letters "s" disappeared.

Nevermind, it is 122KB after I fixed it and it is exceeding the allowed file size.

Bob can you email it to me please?

I just sent it.

The e-mail just got kicked back.

SMTP error from remote mailer after RCPT TO:XXX@XXX (l@XXX):
host pbimail5.prodigy.net [207.115.36.20]: 553 5.3.0 XXX@XXX... Addressee unknown, relay=[66.180.96.58]

I deleted the e-mail addresses above. I am sure I sent it to the address you gave me.

If you want, try e-mailing me at bobt@flextec.net

That worked fine what did you do to make the text appear?

I opened your file in Adobe Illustrator then resaved it. I was sure the PDF format would be correct that way. Some of those other programs that can save PDF's really don't get it right. Glad I could be of assistance.

You are very welcome. I am glad I could help. I am willing to help anyone with a problem like that. I am so immersed in PDF files at my full time job it is crazy, and I bet you would cringe to see all of the different varieties of PDF files around. As it turns out, few companies are willing to pay Adobe's fees for the PDF standard and as you have seen, there are a lot of near misses out there.
