Tinting a gel stain

Is this something you can do yourself? In particular, can I use Trans tint dyes to tint an Olympic brand gel stain without it having any affect on the properties of the stain? Other than the color of course.

The developer of Trans Tint dyes, Jeff Jewitt at www.homesteadfinishing.com might be able to answer the compatability question. Just seems to me that mixing into the gel would be pretty hard to get an even dispersion, but I have never tried to do this.
